What made Steve Jobs different?

I recently created a documentary on Steve Jobs. I spent about two months researching and creating this video. So I thought I would write a blog giving my insight as to what made Steve Jobs different, how he managed to create such a strong brand and how he became known as a genius?
From my research I found Steve wasn’t always easy to work with. He would challenge the status quo and question why things were made in a certain way. Steve Jobs worked for Atari back in the 1970s and co-founder Nolan Bushnell said “The truth is that very few companies would hire Steve, even today. Why? Because he was an outlier. To most potential employers, he'd just seem like a jerk in bad clothing."
Steve couldn’t work for anyone else, he needed control and autonomy over what he was producing mainly because he cared about what he made and he had a passion for his profession. Steve Jobs said in his Stanford commencement speech that the “only way to be truly satisfied is to do what you believe is great work. And the only way to do great work is to love what you do.” This is another thing I learnt about Jobs he was always determined to do what he loved. If he didn’t enjoy something, he wouldn’t do it.
Steve was also a terrific salesman. His keynote speeches became a staple of how Apple’s products were released and marketed. Simon Sinek made a great Ted talk explaining Apple’s ethos of starting with the why. Apple starts with "why." It is the core of their marketing and the driving force behind their business operations. I encourage you to watch this video for more information on this. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=OVnN4S52F3k
In his keynote speeches he captivated audiences, through his rhetoric, charisma and aura. He always thought about the customers and what they wanted. Often giving them products they didn’t even know they needed, consistently innovating and adapting.
My final point about Steve Jobs is that he was a leader, he commanded respect from his fellow employees. John Sculley later regretted his decision to get rid of Steve Jobs in 1985, he later said “What I didn’t appreciate at the time is how emotional, how deeply set the values are of a founder who is on pursuit of a noble cause who absolutely believes they are going to change the world.” Steve had a vision of what Apple was going to look like and hired the people who would work together to achieve that goal.
To conclude I believe Steve Jobs pioneered the technology industry to what it is today. He added style and finesse to Tech. Something which had previously seen as ugly big monitors which were completely changed as a result of Steve. If you would like to check my documentary out you can have a watch of it here.
